Orff music in Guelph is exploding.....expanding.....and very exciting.

Please join our classes in September!  We are very excited about the Orff-Suzuki partnership.

Below is the schedule for the September 2012 to May 2013 classes, dates of classes, and tuition.

Classes are registered by year of birth: ie. Rock-a-Bye(2012) means children born in 2012.

Look for you child's year of birth (in brackets) to find the appropriate class times.

*Please note that Monday tuitions take into acount Thanksgiving, Family Day and Easter Monday.

# Please note that Rock-a-Bye and Peek-a-Boo fees may vary per Session---some sessions have Monday holidays; some Sessions are 7 weeks; some are 8 weeks. The fees in the chart above are for Sessions A/B/C/D.

Many families come for all four sessions. The short sessions accommodate maternity leaves.

Each Session introduces new music and activities.

These 30-week programmes celebrate the children's growing musical, physical and emotional development.

As the children grow, the musical activities change.

Benefits of this Partnership

Karen Haack has taught both Orff classes and Suzuki piano for many years.

She has long felt that a combination of both proven and well-researched programmes

                           would be far greater than the sum of the parts. 

She will be teaching this new prgramme.

If you have attended Guelph Orff Music Studio classes........you will feel "right at home"......

           the classes will include favorite songs, games and musical activities........and MORE!

Orff-Suzuki MUSIC MOVES early childhood classes gently and holistically introduce children to music.

      There will be opportunities for families to learn about the Suzuki approach, but it is not

       expected that all MUSIC MOVES families will choose this musical route.  

                 listen.....move......sing.....play 

Classes will include well-loved children's songs, games and fingerplays. 

Children thrive on repetition, and on improvisation. 

They learn to sing by listening to singing; adding words and phrases as they can. 

 They learn rhythm and beat by being danced around the room by their parents and then dancing themselves. 

Children become interested in playing an instrument by watching and listening to other children play.

They learn about timbre and pitch by listening to all the different voices in the group,

                  and by playing small percussion instruments in class.

Children learn to take turns, to sing a solo, to move to different styles of music, to be respectful of others' ideas............

              music is intercurricular. 

Parents are active participants in all the music classes---from Babies to Kindergarten classes.

And.......................Orff-Suzuki MUSIC MOVES classes are fun!

Children will be  placed in classes by "year of birth."

All classes will be parent/grandparent/adult accompanied.   

Parents are expected to attend and participate.  Enjoy this special one-on-one time with your child. 

Our curriculum is customized to address the developmental needs of each specific age group. 

Siblings beyond three months should attend classes for their own age group.

* All  classes are taught at The Guelph Youth Music Centre  75 Cardigan St   Guelph.

              It is a beautiful facility, and we are so very lucky to be there!   

              We have a comfortable, accessible classroom (with carpet--we all sit on the floor!)

              There is free parking--for both vehicles and strollers!
