Over 4000 visitors attended this past weekend’s event Doors Open Guelph. Doors Open is one of Guelph Arts Council’s longest running and most successful programs. Community members, visitors from out of town local volunteers, and participating sites enjoyed a beautiful sunny day of stories, history, and nosy peeking behind normally closed doors!

This year we had over 140 volunteers and site participants pull together to create this 13 – site event. We would like to thank our volunteers and participating sites from the bottom of our hearts for their efforts. They gave attendees an incredible experience. On a stunningly beautiful day, locals and visitors experienced storytelling, demos, history, architecture, and culture; they connected to their community and everyone seemed to have a great time!

“It was a blast being a tour guide at the Woodlawn Cemetery Lodge. I learned a lot as I went along–especially from Paul Taylor. The other volunteers were great. Another successful DO under our belts.” – Doors Open Guelph Volunteer

“I LOVE Doors Open! We had a bus load from out-of-town and a couple of women told us they go to all the Doors Open in the province that they can every year.” – Doors Open Guelph Volunteer

“Was amazed at how many we had while I was at Bisson Dentistry. With your tiny staff you did an amazing job of organizing the day! Congratulations.” – Doors Open Guelph Volunteer

“Although I am not a beer drinker I thoroughly enjoyed the tour – especially the fellow in the “early days” room. He certainly livened up the history of Sleeman’s and made it very enjoyable, not just the usual drone that is given at a museum.” – Doors Open Guelph Visitor

“Just wanted to say thanks for a great day at Doors Open on Saturday April 23rd. Met up with a local friend (we’re from Stoney Creek) and toured the Hydro and Sleeman’s. I have sent emails to both companies thanking them for their wonderful participation and just wanted to touch base with you to say fantastic day – your brochures were wonderful, the signage at the entrances to each venue were highly visable.” – Doors Open Guelph Visitor

“Just a quick note to thank you for the opportunity to volunteer for Doors Open 2016. I had a wonderful time being at 41 Meadowview for the morning. The other volunteers were great. Then I took the opportunity to visit a couple of the other sites. It was a beautifully sunny day to enjoy some of Guelph’s finest gems. See you next year.” – Doors Open Guelph Volunteer
