Art on the Street 2016

Art on the Street

Guelph’s annual Art on the Street exhibition and sale, co-presented by Guelph Arts Council and the Downtown Guelph Business Association (DGBA), will be taking place on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Established 14 years ago, Art on the Street has become a favourite summer event for locals and visitors of all ages. It attracts several thousand art lovers each year, as well as those new to the arts scene.

As the city’s largest outdoor juried exhibition and sale, Art on the Street spotlights the work of local and visiting artists. Artists will showcase their works in temporary, open-air studios along Quebec Street during the event. As a result of the diversity of the local arts community and our artist lineup, just about every medium will be on display: textiles, photography, pottery, watercolours, oils, acrylics, jewelry, metalwork, apparel and more.

The event is free to visitors and is open to all ages. Come browse the art, shop, and experience our beautiful city! Don’t forget to cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award!

The Children’s Art Festival

While Art on the Street takes over Quebec Street, children of all ages are invited to create their own work in St. George’s Square at The Children’s Arts Festival. The festival will be an all-day event to inspire every child’s inner artist. The activities are aimed to enable children to discover, enjoy, and celebrate the arts as learners, creators, and audiences of their own art.

The festival will feature Play With Clay’s craft bus, Guelph Public Library, and Guelph School of Art. The stage in the main square will also be presenting all sorts of entertainment by the Children’s Art Factory.

Art in the Shops

Prior to Art on the Street, the DGBA will pair artists with numerous downtown businesses to present Art in the Shops from July 11th to 16th. This presents an opportunity for artists to display their work and for the city to enjoy Guelph’s rich cultural community among the beautiful streets, shops, and eateries of Downtown Guelph.
